Citicoline, also known as CDP-choline, is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body and is produced in brain. It is an endogenous precursor of phosphatidylcholine, which is the main building block of cell membranes. Citicoline is broken down into two compounds, cytidine and choline, which easily cross the blood-brain barrier.
Inulin is a compound made up of more than 30 molecules of monosaccharides that are linked by β-2,1-glycosidic bonds in an unbranched chain. It is a polysaccharide of plant origin, which is a reserve store. It is a compound that is not digested in the upper gastrointestinal tract and is transported in an undigested form to the large intestine, where it undergoes bacterial fermentation in the colon. Inulin is used as dietary fiber and prebiotic, i.e. a nutrient for good bacteria living in the digestive system.
