Beef colostrum - what is it really?
Beef colostrum is one name for dried bovine colostrum, derived from cow's milk. It has been possible for some time now, thanks to technological possibilities, to isolate it and obtain it as a substance included in dietary supplements. Bovine colostrum is the first secretion (infant milk), produced in the mother's body within a few days after birth. The name ''colostrum'' is not coincidental - because of its yellowish coloration. Colostrum definitely differs in composition and properties from proper milk - it is much richer in proteins and enzymes, having the task of providing the newborn offspring with nutritious food. This, in turn, has a significant positive impact on the development of intestinal microflora, which is unanimously one of the first and most important steps in building immunity. Particularly noteworthy is the presence in colostrum of immunoglobulin type G - antibodies, which are proteins involved in the normal work of the immune system.
