Native to North America, the evening primrose is a small wildflower growing in a short growing season that is not a true cowslip. When Europeans discovered that it has the ability to cure skin diseases and fresh wounds, quickly gave it the name "Royal cure for everything."
Benefits:
Currently, Evening primrose (evening cowslip) is grown in more than 30 countries and the oil extracted from the seed is a source of linoleic acid. Evening primrose oil is not the only a source of DHA, but also the so-called gamma-linolenic acid (or GLA).
This fatty acid, normally produced in the body from linoleic acid, has many important properties. It is converted in the body to eicosanoids, hormone-like substances, which include the prostaglandins. Prostaglandins help control such processes as inflammation, clots and cholesterol synthesis.
